DON'T BE A LOSER

with Joy Hopwood

An Anti-Bullying / Anti-Racism initiative,
featuring 'The Wong Side of Life' puppets.

THE PERFORMER

Joy Hopwood is a former ABC Play School presenter and is currently an actor/author. She wrote and produced the successful play ‘The Wong Side of Life’ in 2013 and has now developed a video version to present and workshop in schools targeting K-2 students. She has twice been a nominee for Australian of the Year for her ambassador work for the NSW Cancer Council and Mission Australia. Find out more about Joy at www.joy.net.au

THE PERFORMANCE

When Joy comes to visit she brings the puppets and shows the students the ‘Don’t Be A Loser’ music video, which also features two puppet scenes. Together they discuss and identify which puppets are bullies and racists. The students then make popsicle puppets and role play on how to behave if they should encounter any racists and bullies in the future, leaving them feeling empowered and resilient.
