David Hallett

“I think for a school to miss an entertaining and informative seminar by David would be a sad loss for any school community, especially since poetry needs to ‘come alive’ for students through meaningful rendition. This David Hallett does to perfection”.

Performance Poet

One of Australia’s premier performance poets, David has been developing and presenting school performance productions for nearly two decades. Twice winner of the Poetry Olympics at the Sydney Writers Festival, winner of the Byron Bay Writers Festival Poetry Prize, Nimbin Poetry World Cup and Woodford Story Award, David has travelled with his poetry from outback tours to the Sydney Opera House to the beat cafes of New York.

For over twenty years David has hosted two of Australia’s longest running poetry venues: Lismore’s ‘Live Poets’ and Byron Bay’s ‘Writers at the Rails’. He has featured at festivals around Australia, together with performances on SBS and ABC TV, plus Triple-J and regional radio across the country.

David Hallett is a hugely accomplished performance poet who can literally make poetry jump from the page to the stage.
