Mona Williams


Mona Williams is a vibrant, much-in-demand storyteller. She covers a vast spectrum of stories including myths, legends and heroic tales; folk, fairy and wisdom stories, fables, riddles and autobiographical adventures.

Her action-packed stories and dramatic presentations enthrall audiences of all ages.


Drawing on the oral wealth of Britain, Europe, Africa, the Caribbean, the USA and the Middle East, her energetic and thought-provoking concerts incorporate song, dance, audience participation and colourful costumes.

Mona has toured extensively at Festivals, Universities and schools in Holland, Hawaii, Israel, Canada, the Middle East and more!

Born in Guyana, Mona is now a citizen of New Zealand, and a foundation vice-president of the NZ storytellers' guild and a pioneering contributor to the Glistening Waters Storytelling Festival. She has taught English at Primary and Secondary schools for fifteen years and has lectured at University level. A published author of twenty four children's books, a writer-in-residence and a former dancer, her San Francisco television storytelling programme "Roots and Branches" won an Emmy Award.
